Subsequent Work

  1. Install rear axle.

    > 420119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR AXLE

    WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly 
    • Risk of crushing 
    • Risk of damage to components 

      → Wear personal protective gear.

      → Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).

  2. Lift the wheel suspension to zero position using lifting equipment (e.g. > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack  ).

    Zero position (shown on rear axle as an example)

  3. Tighten eccentric threaded joints.
    1. 3.1  Tighten nut -1-  and counter at the hexagonal shaft of the eccentric screw -2-  . Use > T90009 - insert tool  and > VAS 261 019 - ratchet ring wrench socket, a/f 19  .

      > Tightening torque 100 Nm (74 ftlb.)

  4. Perform suspension alignment.

    > 449503 PERFORMING FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT

  5. Perform commissioning
    1. 5.1  Connect the PIWIS Tester  to the vehicle and switch on the PIWIS Tester  .
    2. 5.2  Switch on the ignition.
    3. 5.3  Start diagnostics.
    4. 5.4  Select Rear axle steering  control unit.
    5. 5.5  Select the Maintenance/repairs  tab.
    6. 5.6  Select the Commissioning  menu item and press F12 to continue.
    7. 5.7  Follow the instructions on the Tester.
