Removing Transport Lock (Spring Strut Locking Devices)
WARNING:
Spring strut locking device installed when starting to drive
- Unexpected vehicle handling
→ Remove spring strut locking devices before a test drive or before handing the vehicle over to the customer.
Information
- Spring strut locking devices are installed on the front and rear axles on new vehicles in order to avoid damage to the floorpan assembly during transport (e.g. during loading and unloading) .
- This increases the ground clearance of the vehicle .
- Spring strut locking devices are only installed at the factory on vehicles with steel springs

Information
- The wheels need not be removed!

- Raise the vehicle.
> 4X00IN LIFTING THE VEHICLE .
Front axle:
- Push the bellows/protective sleeve -1-
upwards and remove the three locking pieces -2-
from the piston rod one after the other.
Removing front spring strut locking devices
- 2.1
Pull bellows/protective sleeve -1-
back to its original position.
Rear axle:
- 2.1
Pull bellows/protective sleeve -1-
back to its original position.
- Pull protective sleeve -1-
with rubber stop -2-
downwards and remove the locking pieces individually.
The upper locking piece is partly hidden by the shock absorber mounting and is therefore easily overlooked .
Removing rear spring strut locking devices
- Push protective sleeve -1-
with rubber stop -2-
upwards again by hand.

- Lower the vehicle.
