→ When cutting out the windscreen, make sure that the label with the vehicle identification number (VIN) is not damaged.
Information
Windows on the vehicle can always be removed using the cutting wire and cutting thread.
Unlike the cutting thread, however, the cutting wire has the following disadvantages:
- Danger of injury when tearing off the cutting wire.
- Danger of damage to seals, paint surfaces and interior equipment parts.
For the reasons given, we recommend that you use the cutting thread, particularly if re-installation is planned.

- In order to guarantee an optimum fastening intake grip, it is advisable to clean the inside of the glass before removal.

- The following instructions describe the general procedure for removing car windows using the removal kit for flush bonded windows VAG 1474 B or cutting thread from the window removal set VAS 861 001 A.
- Information on the procedure for specific vehicles must be obtained from the work instructions in the relevant information in the Service Information.
- Pull cutting thread into the passenger compartment.

Information
- To prevent damage, make sure that the vehicle identification number (VIN) is completely masked by the protective film when piercing the adhesive bead.
- 3.1 Pierce adhesive bead on the window glass at the edge of the vehicle identification number (VIN) from the inside out using the awl -1- .
- 3.2 Pull cutting thread -2- into the passenger compartment using the awl -1- .
- 3.3 Pull cutting thread -2- approx > Length 1.5 m into the passenger compartment.
Information
- The cutting thread should be positioned under the rim as far as possible. The sealing lip must be raised slightly in the upper part of the glass in order to pull the cutting thread through.
- Insert cutting thread into the gap in the window glass.
Inserting cutting thread
- 4.1 Insert cutting thread -1- in direction of arrow into the gap between the window glass and body all the way around. Use a spatula and soap suds if necessary.
- Knot the loose end of the cutting thread -1-
to the hook -2-
and hook this on the body.
Securing cutting thread
- Fit cutting thread on the spooling device.
Fitting cutting thread
- 6.1 Guide cutting thread -1- through the deflector -2- .
- 6.2 Feed cutting thread -1- into the spooling roller -3- and knot it securely.
- Separate window glass as far as position -1-

- 7.1 Fit spooling device in the lower right corner of the window.
- 7.1.1 Press spooling device onto the window and increase the suction force using the pump function.
- 7.2 Separate window glass by spooling the cutting thread as far as position -1- using a cordless screwdriver.
- 7.1 Fit spooling device in the lower right corner of the window.
- Separate window glass as far as position -2-

- 8.1 Release spooling device.
- 8.2 Fit spooling device in the top right corner of the window.
- 8.2.1 Press spooling device onto the window and increase the suction force using the pump function.
- 8.3 Separate window glass by spooling the cutting thread as far as position -2- using a cordless screwdriver.
- Separate window glass as far as position -3-

- 9.1 Release spooling device.
- 9.2 Fit spooling device in the top left corner of the window.
- 9.2.1 Press spooling device onto the window and increase the suction force using the pump function.
- 9.3 Separate window glass by spooling the cutting thread as far as position -3- using a cordless screwdriver.
- Separate window glass as far as position -4-

- 10.1 Release spooling device.
- 10.2 Fit spooling device in the lower left area of the window.
- 10.2.1 Press spooling device onto the window and increase the suction force using the pump function.
- 10.3 Separate window glass by spooling the cutting thread as far as position -4- using a cordless screwdriver.
- Remove glass.
