Removing Windscreen

WARNING:
Vehicle windows removed and installed incorrectly
- Danger of cuts
- Risk of eye injuries
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Always shut off power supply when replacing cutting knife.
- Affix all electric plug connections securely to the windscreen with adhesive tape -1-

Information
- Increase the fixing force of the suction cup by moistening it if necessary.
- > V.A.G 1344 - Suction Lifter must be attached to the outside of the windscreen.
- Unwind the cutting wire and cut it using side cutters > Length 6 m
- Guide cutting wire -2- through the window gap under the edge of window pane.
- Guide the cutting wire -2-
inward.
- 5.1 Use the scratch awl -1- to apply a bead of adhesive from the inside out -arrow A- .
- 5.2 Thread the cutting wire -2-
into the scratch awl and pull it into the passenger compartment -arrow B-

Slackening the cutting wire
Countering with a scratch awl
- Make sure not to damage electric connections when removing the glass using cutting wire.
- Cut up to just before the connection.
- Slacken the cutting wire.
- Guide cutting wire past the connection on the inside.
- Counter with a scratch awl.
- Make sure that the cutting wire does not press against electric connections when cutting the glass.
- Continue separating the window glass.

- Increase the fixing force of the suction cup by cleaning the window from the inside if necessary.
- Cut out the windscreen -3-

- 6.1 Insert the cutting wire -1- into the bore on the spooling device -2- .
- 6.2 Position the spooling device -2- in the centre of the glass and press the suction cups firmly against the windscreen -3- .
- 6.3 Secure the suction cups to the windscreen using the actuating lever -3-

Covering vehicle identification number
- To prevent damage, slide the protective film -2- supplied with the cutting tool between the windscreen and vehicle identification number -1- .
- Guide the cutting wire -3- over the protective film -2- when separating the glass.
- 6.4 Cut out the windscreen -3-
by winding the cutting wire onto the spooling device -arrow-
.
Re-position the spooling device -2- to reduce the tensile force of the cutting wire when removing the glass.

- Affix the suction cups to the outside of the windscreen and remove windscreen.
