Installing Windscreen

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION: Danger of material damage if specified curing time of adhesive is not observed! In order to ensure that the bonded joint is sufficiently strong, the following boundary conditions must be adhered to:
  • The vehicle must not be used until the curing time has elapsed.
  • Curing time: 2 hours
  • Temperature: at least 10°C
  • Fixing time: approx. 1 hour

Application time

Information 

Check stop bits and replace if necessary.

  1. Prepare adhesive for processing.

    > 6X00IN General information on removing and installing car windows 

    "2-component window bonding agent"; see Porsche Spare Parts Information, Main Article 8

    Information 

    • The adhesive bead must overlap by approx. 30 mm at the beginning and end. 
  2. Use > VAS 5237 - double cartridge gun  to apply a triangular bead of adhesive with -Dimension X-  along the preliminary coat or on the primer on the windshield.

    Apply adhesive

    > Application depth 15 mm 

    Information 

    • Two people required. 
  3. Insert the windshield into the body.
    1. 3.1 Affix suction cups to the windshield.
    2. 3.2 Guide the windshield into the window aperture.
    3. 3.3 Position the windshield on the lower edge -Arrows A-  and fit it -Arrow B-  .

    Inserting windshield

  4. Adjust the windshield gaps.

    > 5X00IN Gap dimensions 

    > Gap dimension 2.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm 

    > Offset -0.6 mm +/- 0.5 mm 

    For vehicles with Porsche large roof system (I-no. 3FU): 

    > Offset -0.6 mm +/- 0.7 mm 

  5. Remove suction cups.
  6. Secure the windshield with adhesive tape -1-  to prevent it from slipping.

  7. Remove any adhesive that has oozed out immediately, and clean the affected visible areas using the cleaning solution.
  8. Remove adhesive tape -1-  and disconnect all electric plug connections from the windshield.
