Installing Cylinder Head

NOTE: Dirt and contamination

Risk of damage to units or components
→ Protect components from dirt and contamination.

→ Clean or replace dirty components.

Check dowel sleeves for signs of damage and replace them if necessary.
Fit new cylinder-head gasket and check that dowel sleeves are installed correctly.
Carefully place cylinder head in position.
Information
- Observe specified tightening sequence.
Secure cylinder head.
1. 4.1 Step 1: Tighten screws -1 to 10- .
  > Tightening torque 15 Nm (11 ftlb.)
2. 4.2 Step 2: Tighten screws -1 to 10- .
  > Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)
3. 4.3 Step 3: Tighten screws -1 to 10- .
  > Torque angle + 300°
4. 4.4 Step 4: Loosen screws -1 to 10- .
  > Torque angle - 720°
5. 4.5 Step 5: Tighten screws -1 to 10- .
  > Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)
6. 4.6 Step 6: Tighten screws -1 to 10- .
  > Torque angle 120°
7. 4.7 Step 7: Tighten screw -11- .
  > Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
8. 4.8 Step 8: Tighten screw -11- .
  > Torque angle 25°

Cylinder bank 1-4: Install chain tensioner and collar for guide rail.

5.2 Position chain tensioner -3- with a new O-ring. Screw in and tighten screws -2- .

> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)

Cylinder bank 5-8: Install chain tensioner and secure guide rail.

6.2 Position chain tensioner -3- with a new O-ring and screw in and tighten screws -2- .

> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
