Preliminary Work

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION: Ingress of dirt
  • Danger of material damage due to blocked oil bores/oil ducts

→ Absolute cleanliness is essential when working on the engine.

→ Lay removed engine parts on a clean base and make sure to cover them.

CAUTION: Heavy components
  • Risk of squashing

    → Wear personal protective gear.

→ Get someone to help if necessary.

CAUTION: Leaks due to insufficiently or differently tempered components!
  • If cold or differently tempered components are sealed to each other by applying a sealant, adhesion problems or leaks can result because of condensed water forming or components becoming distorted.

→ All components must be at least 17°C.

→ Components must not be too hot (distortion).

→ Spare parts stored in cold or heat (strong exposure to sunlight) must be at room temperature, or must have the same temperature as other components, before installation.

CAUTION: Emerging residual fluid can soil the engine!
  • Residual fluid (fuel, oil, Pentosin, coolant, etc.) will emerge even after a long time when disassembling and assembling the engine.

→ Place a drip tray under the engine at the assembly support.

→ Have a sufficient number of cleaning cloths ready.

→ Close off engine openings using stoppers.
