Removing Tank Vent

  1. Disconnect tank vent line -1-  from the tank vent valve -2-  .

    Tank ventilation line

  2. Remove positive crankcase ventilation line -2-  on the right side.
    1. 2.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -3-  .
    2. 2.2 Unclip retaining clip -4-  for electric wire harness -5-  .
    3. 2.3 Release quick connectors -1-  and disconnect positive crankcase ventilation line -2-  .

      Vent line

  3. Screw off fastening nuts -1-  .

    Cable duct for engine wire harness 'cylinders 1-4)

  4. Disconnect engine wire harness (cylinders 1-4).

    > WM, 975219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE WIRE HARNESS

    1. 4.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connections -2 to 5-  .
    2. 4.2 Pull tank vent line off the holder as far as required until the electric plug connection -6-  is accessible.
    3. 4.3 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -6-  .
    4. 4.4 Carefully lift cable duct for engine wire harness -1-  aside to allow access to the tank vent line.
    5. 4.5 Expose tank vent line as far as the tank ventilation sensor.

      Electric plug connections on engine wire harness (cylinders 1-4)

  5. Remove tank ventilation sensor (USA) or dummy (cylinders 1-4) -1-  .
    1. 5.1 Unscrew and remove fastening screw -2-  .
    2. 5.2 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -3-  .
    3. 5.3 Remove tank ventilation sensor (USA) or dummy -1-  together with the vent line -5-  from holder -4-  .

      Tank ventilation sensor (cylinders 1-4)

  6. Expose tank vent line.
    1. 6.1 Unclip tank ventilation -1-  from retaining clips -2 and 3-  .
    2. 6.2 Release and disconnect quick connectors -4-  .
    3. 6.3 Close off connections using suitable stoppers.

      Tank vent line over intake pipe

  7. Disconnect positive crankcase ventilation lines.
    1. 7.1 Release and disconnect quick connector -1-  .
    2. 7.2 Move line -3-  aside so that the cable duct is accessible.
    3. 7.3 Release and disconnect quick connector -2-  .
    4. 7.4 Close off connections using suitable stoppers.
    5. 7.5 Move line -4-  aside so that the cable duct is accessible.

      Positive crankcase ventilation lines

  8. Remove tank ventilation sensor (USA) or dummy (cylinders 5-8) -3-  .
    1. 8.1 Unclip electric plug connection -4-  from the holder and move the line aside.
    2. 8.2 Unscrew fastening screws -5-  .
    3. 8.3 Move holder -6-  with electric wire harness aside.
    4. 8.4 Unscrew and remove fastening screw -1-  .
    5. 8.5 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -2-  .
    6. 8.6 Remove tank ventilation sensor (USA) or dummy -3-  .

      Tank ventilation sensor (cylinders 5-8)

  9. Screw off fastening nuts -1-  .

    Cable duct for engine wire harness (cylinders 5-8)

  10. Disconnect engine wire harness (cylinders 5-8).

    > WM, 975219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE WIRE HARNESS

    1. 10.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connections -2 to 6-  .
    2. 10.2 Carefully lift cable duct for engine wire harness -1-  aside to allow access to the tank vent line.

      Electric plug connections on engine wire harness (cylinders 5-8)

  11. Expose tank vent valve (cylinders 5-8).
    1. 11.1 Release and disconnect quick connector -1-  .
    2. 11.2 Close off connections using suitable stoppers.
    3. 11.3 Move vacuum line -2-  aside.
    4. 11.4 Dull tank vent valve -3-  off the holder so that the electric plug connection -4-  is accessible.
    5. 11.5 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -4-  .

      Tank vent valve (cylinders 5-8)

  12. Remove tank vent line.
    1. 12.1 Unclip retaining clip -2-  from tank vent line -3-  .
    2. 12.2 Release and disconnect quick connector -1-  .
    3. 12.3 Close off connections using suitable stoppers.
    4. 12.4 Guide out tank vent line -3-  .
