Preliminary Work: Notes

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials 
  • Danger of fire or explosion 

    → Avoid contact with hot pars or sources of ignition.

    → Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.

    → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

    → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.

    → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

WARNING: Caustic fluids 
  • Danger of chemical burns 

    → Wear personal protective gear.

    → Ensure that there is good ventilation.

    → Avoid contact with caustic fluid.

    → If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

Information 

The battery voltage must not fall below 12.5 volts  during the fuel pressure check.

  1. Connect a battery charger.
  2. Attach or mount a warning sign in a clearly visible position on the vehicle.

  3. Relieve fuel pressure in the system.
    1. 3.1 Remove cover from fuse carrier F in the engine compartment at the front right.
    2. 3.2 Pull out the fuse -1-  for the fuel pump.
    3. 3.3 Start the engine, wait until it cuts out and then re-insert the fuse -1-  .

  4. Connect test tool.
    1. 4.1 The connection point -3-  for the fuel low-pressure line must be prepared by placing a cloth -2-  underneath it.
    2. 4.2 Release and disconnect plug-in coupling for the fuel low-pressure line. Collect emerging fuel.
    3. 4.3 Connect test tool -1-  .
