Installing Turbocharger

Information 

Replace sealing rings, gaskets and O-rings.

Information 

• During installation, first install the turbocharger on bank 5-8 if it was removed. 

1. Grease new O-rings on the oil and coolant lines with Kluber Syntheso Glep.
2. Fit new sealing ring -1-  on the exhaust manifold -2-  and position new connecting clamp -3-  on the flange.

3. Position turbocharger with new connecting clamp -1-  on the exhaust manifold.
   1. 3.1 Tighten hexagon nut -2-  .

      > Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)

4. Connect oil and coolant lines to the turbocharger and connection openings.
5. Fit retainer plate -4-  on the coolant lines -2 and 3-  and secure with screw -1-  .

   > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)

6. Connect return oil pipes -1-  at the front.
   1. 6.1 First connect the line for the turbocharger 5-8, then the line with the connecting flange of the turbocharger 1-4.
   2. 6.2 Fit and tighten screw -2-  .

      > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)

      Return oil pipes

7. Secure supply oil pipes -1-  at the front with screws.
   1. 7.1 Screws on turbocharger: > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) 
   2. 7.2 Screws on crankcase: > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)

      Oil pipes supply line

8. Connect cable plug on diverter valve and vacuum line to vacuum modulator on the left turbocharger.
9. Connect vent line, vacuum line and cable plug on diverter valve on the right turbocharger.
10. For replacing turbochargers:  Install positive crankcase ventilation hose.
