Checking Engine Oil Pressure

→ Let the fluid cool down.

→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.
→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
→ Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
→ Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.
Information
- Engine oil pressure may be too low for a number of reasons:
- Oil is diluted.
- Oil pump is faulty.
- Too much bearing clearance.
- Oil level is too low.
- Oil pressure-regulating valve is faulty.
- Incorrect oil has been used. Only use oil that has been approved by Porsche for the measurement.
Information
Test conditions for checking engine oil pressure:
- Correct engine-oil level,
- Engine oil temperature approx. 80°C,
- Engine oil pressure only variable at a mileage of 621 miles or higher. When the mileage is less than 621 miles, the oil pump always delivers the maximum possible engine oil pressure (optimized running-in behavior).
- Screw in adapter and connect > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
- Screw oil pressure switch into > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester and plug electric plug connection into the oil pressure switch.
- Connect electric wire harness for the oil pressure tester and switch on the oil pressure tester.

- Start the engine.
- Check engine oil pressure.
- Engine oil pressure at idle speed: > Overpressure 1.5 bar
- Engine oil pressure at 1, 500 rpm: > Overpressure 1.9 bar
- Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the oil pressure switch and unscrew oil pressure switch from > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester .
- > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester must then be disconnected and adapter must be removed.
