→ Observe national requirements and legislation for this work.
→ Always use insulated tools, such as an > VAS 6883 - insulated tool set when working on these parts.
→ Observe general warning notices for working on the high-voltage system.

Preliminary work for measurement 7 (electric motor to power electronics)
- Unscrew cover on connection for 3-phase line to electric motor.

Electric machine
- Use insulation tester > VAS 6838 - Insulation tester
to measure the resistance at the 3-phase line for the electric motor housing.
Measure all 3 high-voltage lines individually.
Measurement 7
- Perform measurement 7.
- 3.1 Setpoint value > 550 MOhm
- Evaluate test results.
- 4.1 If the measured value is within
the tolerance range, repeat measurement.
Contact Technical Support.
- 4.2 If the measured value is outside
of the tolerance range, continue with measurement 7.1
Preliminary work for measurement 7.1 (electric motor to 3-phase line)
- 4.1 If the measured value is within
the tolerance range, repeat measurement.
- Remove cover for front underbody.

- Remove front-axle support.
- Disconnect electric connections (12-volt) at the power electronics.
- Loosen power electronics holder.

- Loosen threaded joint for high-voltage lines from power electronics to electric motor and disconnect all 3 high-voltage lines.
High-voltage lines from power electronics to electric motor
- Use insulation tester > VAS 6838 - Insulation tester
to measure the resistance at the 3-phase line for the electric motor housing.
Measure all 3 high-voltage lines individually.
Measurement 7
- Perform measurement 7.1.
- 11.1 Setpoint value > 550 MOhm
- Evaluate test results.
- 12.1 If the measured value is within the tolerance range, replace power electronics.
After replacing the power electronics, repeat measurement 7.
- 12.2 If the measured value is outside
of the tolerance range, continue with measurement 7.2
Preliminary work for measurement 7.2 (3-phase line)
- 12.1 If the measured value is within the tolerance range, replace power electronics.
- Loosen 3-phase line to the electric motor.

- Use insulation tester > VAS 6838 - Insulation tester
to measure the resistance at the terminal shoes of the 3-phase line -1-

Measurement 7.2
Measure all 3 high-voltage lines individually.
- Perform measurement 7.2.
- 15.1 Setpoint value > 550 MOhm
- Evaluate test results.
- 16.1 If the measured value is within the tolerance range, continue with measurement 7.3
- 16.2 If the measured value is outside of the tolerance range, replace 3-phase line.
Fit new fastening screws for 3-phase line to electric motor.
After replacing the 3-phase line, repeat measurement 7.
Preliminary work for measurement 7.3 (electric motor)
- Fit a 4-mm washer under the fastening screws for the 3-phase line and screw in fastening screws on electric motor.
Tightening torque for screw: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
Fit new fastening screws before final re-installation.
- Use insulation tester > VAS 6838 - Insulation tester
to measure the resistance at the fastening screw for the electric motor housing.
Measurement 7.3
Measure all 3 high-voltage connections individually.
- Perform measurement 7.3.
- 19.1 Setpoint value > 550 MOhm
- Evaluate test results.
- 20.1 If the measured value is within
the tolerance range, repeat measurement.
Contact Technical Support.
- 20.2 If the measured value is outside
of the tolerance range, replace electric motor.
After replacing the electric motor, repeat measurement 7.
- 20.1 If the measured value is within
the tolerance range, repeat measurement.
