Preliminary Work

Remove timing chain from the camshafts.
> Refer to Removing and installing timing chain (V6 Turbo) in the appropriate service information.
Remove fuel injectors.
> Refer to Removing and installing fuel injector in the appropriate service information.
Remove solenoid hydraulic valves for valve lift adjustment.
> Refer to Removing and installing solenoid hydraulic valve for valve lift adjustment (V6 Turbo) in the appropriate service information.
Loosen main wire harness in engine compartment and move it aside.
> Refer to Loosening and securing main wire harness in engine compartment in the appropriate service information.
Only for removing cylinder head cover on right cylinder bank:
1. 5.1 Remove tank vent valve.
  > Refer to Removing and installing tank vent valve (V6 monoturbo) in the appropriate service information.
2. 5.2 Remove the high-pressure pump.
For V6 biturbo:

> Refer to Removing and installing high-pressure pump (V6 biturbo) in the appropriate service information.

For V6 monoturbo:

> Refer to Removing and installing high-pressure pump in the appropriate service information.
Remove holder for solenoid valves -1- .
1. 6.1 Pull solenoid valves -2- off the holder -1- and set them aside.
2. 6.2 Unscrew nuts on holder -3- .
3. 6.3 Remove holder -1- .

Only for removing cylinder head cover on left cylinder bank:
1. 7.1 Remove oil mist separator.
  > Removing and installing oil mist separator (V6 Turbo)
2. 7.2 Remove brake booster vacuum pump.
  > Removing and installing brake booster vacuum pump
Remove lower part of sound insulation.
