Removing Camshaft Controller Actuator

Information 

• The steps to be carried out are described and shown for one side of the vehicle. They also apply for the other side of the vehicle and can be used accordingly. 

1. Have suitable aids ready to collect emerging fluids and have suitable stoppers ready for closing off connection openings.
2. Only for removing camshaft controller actuator at the intake side of the right cylinder bank: 

   Disconnect coolant pipe -2-  .

   1. 2.1 Unscrew screw -1-  and disconnect coolant pipe -2-  .

   Lower coolant line

3. Only for removing camshaft controller actuator at the intake side of the right cylinder bank: 

   Disconnect upper coolant line.

   1. 3.1 Slide insulation -1-  aside.
   2. 3.2 Unscrew nut for coolant pipe holder -3-  .
   3. 3.3 Loosen spring band clamps -2-  using > VAS 6890 - Spring Band Clamp Pliers  and pull off coolant hose.
   4. 3.4 Close off connections with stoppers.

   Upper coolant line

4. Move coolant pipe -2-  with hose piece -3-  aside.

   Lower coolant line

5. Remove camshaft controller actuator.
   1. 5.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  .
   2. 5.2 Unscrew screws -2-  .
   3. 5.3 Remove camshaft controller actuator -3- (On outlet side: with heat shield)  .
