Installing Turbocharger

Information

1. If the turbocharger is replaced, parts must also be added and retrofitted.

   Information 

   When removing the turbocharger, the oil return line will be damaged and must always be replaced following removal.

2. Replace oil return line -1-  for turbocharger.
   1. 2.1 Remove oil line -1-  from the crankcase.
   2. 2.2 Remove pin -2-  from the turbocharger.
   3. 2.3 Secure new oil line with pin on the turbocharger.

3. Install turbocharger -1-  .
   1. 3.1 Replace seal on cylinder head/turbocharger flange.
   2. 3.2 Replace O-rings on active carbon filter line.
   3. 3.3 Secure active carbon filter line -3-  and tighten screw -2-  to > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)  .
   4. 3.4 Move turbocharger -1-  into installation position.

4. Secure turbocharger -1-  .
   1. 4.1 Screw in stud -3-  and tighten to > Tightening torque 15 Nm (11 ftlb.)  .
   2. 4.2 Tighten nuts -2-  to > Tightening torque 25 Nm (5 ftlb.)  .
   3. 4.3 Tighten nuts -4-  to > Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)  .

5. Fasten new V-band clamp -1-  .
   1. 5.1 Replace turbocharger/catalytic converter seal.
   2. 5.2 Tighten screw -2-  to > Tightening torque 7 Nm (5 ftlb.)  .

6. Secure coolant lines -1-  and -2-  on the turbocharger.
   1. 6.1 Replace O-rings.
   2. 6.2 Tighten screws -3-  to > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)  .

7. Secure oil supply line -1-  .
   1. 7.1 Replace O-rings.
   2. 7.2 Tighten screw -2-  to > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)  .

8. Connect electric connector -1-  .

9. Push vacuum hose onto the turbocharger vacuum unit.
