Mounting Engine

  1. Mount engine on front-axle carrier.
    1. 1.1 Lower engine with workshop crane and > 3033 - lifting tackle  onto the front-axle carrier and move it into installation position.
  2. Left side of engine:
    1. 2.1 Only for all-wheel drive vehicles: 

      Carefully guide in drive shaft -1-  and insert it into the all-wheel final drive console -2-  (-arrow-  ). Check that the drive shaft is seated securely.

      > WM, 404119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT DRIVE SHAFT

    2. 2.2 Fit engine mount -4-  on engine carrier -5-  .
      1. 2.2.1 Fit and tighten screw -3-  .

        V8 biturbo & V6 Turbo engine: > Initial tightening 70 Nm (52 ftlb.) 

        V8 biturbo & V6 Turbo engine: > Final tightening + 90°

        Drive shaft and left engine mount (V8 biturbo engine)

  3. Right side of engine:
    1. 3.1 Only for all-wheel drive vehicles: 

      Carefully guide in drive shaft -1-  and insert it into the all-wheel final drive -2-  (-arrow-  ). Check that the drive shaft is seated securely.

    2. 3.2 Fit engine mount -4-  on engine carrier -5-  .
      1. 3.2.1 Fit and tighten screw -3-  .

        V8 biturbo & V6 Turbo engine: > Initial tightening 70 Nm (52 ftlb.) 

        V8 biturbo & V6 Turbo engine: > Final tightening + 90°
