Installing Connecting Link For Anti-Roll Bar

- Fit connecting link -1-
on the anti-roll bar.
Mounting for connecting link
WARNING: Preloaded or pressurised components- Risk of squashing or bruising
→ Do not reach into the danger area.
→ Relieve the tension on components before starting work.
→ Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.
Information
Only for coil springs:
Coil spring is pressurised!
- > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack must not be lowered fully.
- > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack must not be removed until the connecting link has been installed.
- 1.1 > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack must be lowered as far as required until the anti-roll bar can be turned downwards.
- 1.2 Turn the anti-roll bar down as far as required so that the ball pin of the connecting link can be guided into the bore on the antiroll bar.
- 1.3 Fit fastening nut -3- (do not tighten).
- Risk of squashing or bruising
- Fit connecting link -1-
on both sides of the vehicle on the lower trailing arm.
Mounting for connecting link
WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly- Risk of crushing
- Risk of damage to components
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
- 2.1 Lift the wheel bearing housing using > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack .
- 2.2 Install threaded joint -2- for connecting link (do not tighten).
- Tighten threaded joints for connecting link in zero position.

→ Relieve the tension on components before starting work.
→ Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.
Information
Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.
- 3.1 Lift the wheel bearing housing as far as required using lifting equipment (e.g > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack
) until the lower trailing arm is horizontal > Zero position
Zero position
- 3.2 Tighten fastening nut securing connecting link with shock absorber to trailing arm -3- > Initial tightening 70 Nm (51.6 ftlb.) > Final tightening torque angle + 180°
- 3.3 Tighten threaded joint securing connecting link to anti-roll bar -2- and counter at the ball pin of the connecting link > Initial tightening 50 Nm (37 ftlb.) > Final tightening torque angle + 45°
- Risk of squashing or bruising
- Install control arm spoiler -2-

Control arm spoiler on trailing arm
- 4.1 Fit lug of control arm spoiler on the shock absorber threaded joint.
- 4.2 Tighten fastening screw -1- > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
