Installing Wheel Bearing Housing

Information
- Molub Alloy Paste TA can be ordered using the Porsche Electronic Parts Information (PET).
- The thread of the drive shaft must not be greased!
- Grease drive shaft splines with Molub Alloy Paste TA.
- Install threaded joint -1-
(do not tighten!).
Installing wheel bearing housing
- Secure tie rod and upper control arm on the wheel bearing housing.
Mounting for tie rod and upper control arm
- 3.1 Get a second person to hold the wheel bearing housing and drive shaft.
- 3.2 Guide drive shaft into the wheel hub.
- 3.3 Install threaded joints -1 to 3- . (Do not tighten!).
- Tighten threaded joints on the wheel bearing housing in zero position.
Information
Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.
- 4.1 Lift the wheel bearing housing as far as required using lifting equipment (e.g > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack
) until the lower trailing arm is horizontal > Zero position
Zero position
- 4.2 Tighten threaded joint securing trailing arm to wheel bearing housing -1- > Initial tightening 70 Nm (52 ftlb.) > Final tightening torque angle + 180°
- 4.3 Tighten fastening screw securing tie rod to wheel bearing housing -1- > Initial tightening 70 Nm (52 ftlb.) > Final tightening torque angle + 90°
- 4.4 Tighten threaded joint securing upper control arm at the front to wheel bearing housing -2- > Initial tightening 70 Nm (52 ftlb.) > Final tightening torque angle + 90°
- 4.5 Tighten threaded joint securing upper control arm at the rear to wheel bearing housing -3- > Initial tightening 70 Nm (52 ftlb.) > Final tightening torque angle + 90°
- 4.1 Lift the wheel bearing housing as far as required using lifting equipment (e.g > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack
) until the lower trailing arm is horizontal > Zero position
- Install cable holder -1-

Cable holder mounting
- 5.1 Connect electric plug connection to the EPB actuator and lock it.
- 5.2 Place sensor for body in installation position.
- 5.3 Tighten fastening screw securing cable holder to wheel bearing housing > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
- 5.4 Tighten fastening screw securing sensor for body with cable holder to wheel bearing housing > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
- Install speed sensor -1-

Speed sensor mounting
Information
- Optitemp can be ordered using the Porsche Electronic Parts Information (PET).
- The bore for the speed sensor mounting must be free of dirt.
- Do not grease sensor tips!
- 6.1 Lightly grease ribbed area (seat in wheel bearing bore) with Optitemp (Optitemp LG2, 25 ml spraying can).
- 6.2 Tighten fastening screw -2- > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
- Secure holder for level sensor -2-
to the trailing arm.

- 7.1 Tighten fastening screw -1- > Initial tightening 3 Nm (2 ftlb.) > Final tightening + 45°
- Install control arm spoiler -2-

- 8.1 Fit lug of control arm spoiler on the shock absorber threaded joint.
- 8.2 Tighten fastening screw -1- > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
- Install brake cover panel -1-

- 9.1 Tighten fastening screws -2- > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
