Remove Fuel Tank
- Danger of fire or explosion
→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.
→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
→ Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
→ Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

- Danger of burns to the eyes and skin
→ Ventilate the work area well.
→ Never ingest or inhale.
→ Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.
Information
- Escaping fuel must be soaked up using suitable binding material.
- The fuel system must be depressurized before starting work on it.
- Only work on the fuel system in well-ventilated rooms.
- Any seals that were removed must always be replaced.
- Never use sealant containing silicone or silicone spray when the injection system is open. Traces of silicone drawn in by the engine are not combusted and damage the oxygen sensors.
- Have suitable aids ready to collect emerging fuel and have suitable stoppers ready for closing off the fuel lines and the relevant connection openings.
- Remove cover -1-
in the floorpan close to the removed right rear seat.

- Disconnect fuel tank connections.
- 3.1 Release and disconnect plug-in couplings -1- for the fuel lines.
- 3.2 Close off fuel lines and connection openings using suitable stoppers.
- 3.3 Release and disconnect electric plug connections -2- .

- Remove protective cover -4-

- 4.1 Unscrew fastening screws -3, 2 and 1- .
- 4.2 Remove protective cover -4- .

- Release and disconnect plug-in coupling -1-
and collect emerging fuel.

and pull it out of the body -arrow B-

- 9.1 Unscrew fastening screws -3, 2 and 1- .
- 9.2 Disconnect electric plug connection -4- .
- 9.3 Disconnect fuel filler tube -5- with holders from the body.

- Remove carbon canister line -2-

- 10.1 Release and disconnect quick connector -1- .
- 10.2 Unclip carbon canister line -2- from holders -3- .

- Support the fuel tank -1-
using a suitable base -2-
and transmission jack -3-

- Remove fuel tank -4-
.
- 12.1 Unscrew fastening screws -1, 2 and 3- .
- 12.2 Carefully lower the transmission jack and hold fuel tank -4- with carbon canister line securely.
- 12.3 Remove the fuel tank -4- and restraining straps -5- from the base.
