Loosening Main Wire Harness In Passenger Compartment At The Right

NOTE: Incorrect handling of main wire harness 
  • Risk of damage to lines 

    → The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

    → The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

    → If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

  1. Release and disconnect electric plug connection for airbag sensor at the rear door sill.

  2. Unclip holder -1-  for electric plug connection for rear seat.

  3. Unclip main wire harness -1-  at rear inner sill -arrows-  .

  4. Unscrew screws -1-  and remove PCC/PVTS control unit holder -2-  .

  5. Unscrew nuts -1-  at the ground points on the tunnel and remove ground lines -2-  .

  6. Unclip line bracket -1-  for electric wire harness -2-  at the tunnel.

  7. Unclip line bracket -1-  for electric wire harness -2-  at the body -arrows-  .

  8. Unclip locking lugs -arrows-  and remove cable cover -1-  on rear inner sill.

  9. Release and disconnect electric plug connection for head airbag.

    > 696619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HEAD AIRBAG UNIT

  10. Unclip line bracket -1-  and set electric line for head airbag -2-  down in the footwell.

  11. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on rear door.

    > 585119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR DOOR

  12. Disconnect electric line for door electrics.
    1. 12.1 Press locking lug -arrow-  and disengage mounting housing -1-  .
    2. 12.2 Pull electric line out of the B-pillar.

  13. Screw off nut -1-  on ground point at the bottom of the B-pillar and remove ground lines -2-  .

  14. Release and disconnect electric plug connection for right seat-belt pretensioner.

    > WM, 691119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REVERSIBLE SEAT-BELT PRETENSIONER, FRONT

  15. Unclip locking lugs -arrows-  and remove cable cover -1-  on front inner sill.

  16. Cut tie-wrap -2-  .

  17. Release electric connectors -1-  for left seat connection and remove them from the holder.

    Disconnecting electric connectors

  18. Loosen fuse box under front seat.

    > 978409 LOOSENING AND SECURING FUSE BOX UNDER FRONT SEAT 

  19. Screw off nut -1-  and remove fuse carrier -2-  .

  20. Unclip line bracket -1-  and set electric line for air vent -2-  down in the footwell.

  21. Unclip main wire harness -1-  at the front inner sill -arrows-  .

  22. Loosen fuse box in the front right footwell.

    > 978409 LOOSENING AND SECURING FUSE BOX IN FRONT RIGHT FOOTWELL 

  23. Release and disconnect electric plug connection for airbag sensor on the A-pillar.

    > 695119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIRBAG SENSOR

  24. Disconnect electric connectors at the A-pillar (connection point for wire harness for dashboard).
    1. 24.1 Release and unplug electric plug connections -1-  .
