Emergency Release - Rear

  1. Make access to the lock.
    1. 1.1 Protect adjacent trim panels from damage.

      Affix adhesive tape to the area.

      Information 

      This action will damage the component.

      Replace component.

    2. 1.2 Cut trim -1-  around the lock at the cut line -2-  using an > V.A.G 1561B - electric knife  .

    3. 1.3 Remove sound absorber -1-  in the cut-out area.

  2. Release lock.
    1. 2.1 Insert screwdriver -2-  through the flap -1-  into the lock.

      Access to actuator

    2. 2.2 Probe for release -1-  with screwdriver -2-  .

      Release

    3. 2.3 Move screwdriver in direction -Arrow-  . Actuating release

    Lock unlocks audibly.

  3. Open the cover from outside.
