Adjusting Height Of Front Lid

Information 

To adjust the height of the front lid, the hinge 971.823.295 and 971.823.296 must be used.

Information 

Screws -1- must not be opened or adjusted. 

Opening and adjusting the screws -1-  will change the preload in the hinge and the preload cannot be set again.

Hinge screws

1. Check that the lower part of the lock is at the basic setting in accordance with

   > 5517 FRONT LOCK, LOWER PAR 

   and correct it if necessary.

2. Close the front lid and check the setting.
   • Front lid to front apron (B1) > Gap dimension 3.2 mm + 0.8 mm - 0.6 mm 
   • Front lid front apron (B2) > Gap dimension - 1 mm - 0.3 mm +/- 0.5 mm 
   • Front lid to wing (K1) > Gap dimension 3 mm +/- 0.7 mm 
   • Front lid to wing (K2) > Gap dimension 0 mm +/- 0.5 mm 
3. Loosen fastening nuts on front lid -1-  .

   Fit adjustment plates underneath

   1. 4.1 Lift the hinge -1-  . -arrow A- 
   2. 4.2 Between front lid and hinge -1-  : Fit the required number of adjustment plates -2-  underneath. -arrow B- 
5. Tighten fastening nuts on front lid -1-  to > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.) (14.8 ftlb.)  .

   Securing front lid

6. Close the front lid and check the setting again.
   • Front lid to front apron (B1) > Gap dimension 3.2 mm + 0.8 mm - 0.6 mm 
   • Front lid to front apron (B2) > Gap dimension - 1 mm - 0.3 mm +/- 0.5 mm 
   • Front lid to wing (K1) > Gap dimension 3 mm +/- 0.7 mm 
   • Front lid to wing (K2) > Gap dimension 0 mm +/- 0.5 mm 
7. If the setting does not match the required values, the steps must be repeated.
