Teaching Remote Control For Auxiliary Heating

Information 

• Aux. heater remote control can only be programmed using PIWIS Tester. 
• A maximum of four remote controls can be programmed per vehicle. 

Information 

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester  .

Information 

• The "look" of the remote control and the teaching process was changed during model year 2018. 

1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
2. Select the vehicle type if necessary.
3. Select the Auxiliary heater (fuel)  control unit in the overview  . Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
4. Select Maintenance/repairs  . Press F12 to continue.
5. Select Teach remote control for auxiliary heating. 
6. Teach remote control.
   1. 6.1 Teach old version (model year 2017 and 2018)  of remote control.
      1. 6.1.1 Press and hold button -1-  on the remote control.

      2	OK button

   2. 6.2 Teach new version (from model year 2018)  of remote control.
      1. 6.2.1 Press button -1-  on the remote control and keep it pressed during the teaching process.

7. Press and hold button -1-  on the remote control.

   1	Menu button
   2	OK button

8. Press F8 to start the teaching process on the Tester.
9. To program other remote controls, repeat the process.
10. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
11. Carry out a function test on the remote control.
