Disassembling Rear Lid

  1. Remove wire harness for tailgate.

    > 972719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WIRE HARNESS FOR TAILGATE

  2. Remove rear window.

    > 648619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR WINDOW

  3. Remove rear logo.

    > WM, 665055 REPLACE LOGO REAR

  4. Remove antenna control unit.

    > 918619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ANTENNA CONTROL UNIT

  5. Remove antenna amplifier.

    > 918419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ANTENNA AMPLIFIER

  6. Remove control unit for auxiliary heater.

    > WM, 821819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AUXILIARY HEATING CONTROL UNIT

  7. Remove antenna for auxiliary heater.

    > WM, 820819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ANTENNA FOR AUXILIARY HEATING

  8. Only for USA vehicles (C02): 

    Remove SDARS antenna.

    > 913819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SDARS ANTENNA

  9. Remove control unit for rear lid.

    > 5568 REAR LID CONTROL UNIT 

  10. Remove motor for closing aid.

    > 587219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING MOTOR FOR CLOSING AID

  11. Remove adjusting element for rear lid -2-  .

    Removing rubber stop

    1. 11.1 Unscrew and remove screw -1-  .
    2. 11.2 Remove adjusting element for rear lid -2-  .
  12. Unscrew and remove ball joint -3-  .

  13. Unscrew screws -5-  and pull water drain sleeves -6-  out of the opening in the panel.

  14. Remove moulded part -7-  from opening in the panel and remove seal -8-  .

  15. Pull sleeves -9-  out of the openings in the panel and remove mounting for rubber stop -10-  .
    1. 15.1 Pull sleeves -9-  out of the openings in the panel.
    2. 15.2 Loosen mounting for rubber stop -10-  by turning it 90°.
    3. 15.3 Remove mounting for rubber stop -10-  .

  16. Unscrew nuts -11-  and remove retaining bracket for wiper motor -12-  .
