Installing Final Drive

Information 

Always use an intermediate layer (e.g. hard rubber) when using the jack!

1. Fit final drive -1-  .

   Final drive mounting

   1. 1.1 Position final drive in installation position using > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack  .
   2. 1.2 Tighten fastening screws -3-  > Initial tightening 60 Nm (44.3 ftlb.)  > Final tightening torque angle + 90° 

      Information 

      • The bolts -2- can be used several times as part of this repair work. 
   3. 1.3 Tighten fastening screws -2-  > Initial tightening 60 Nm (44.3 ftlb.)  > Final tightening torque angle + 90° 
2. Only for vehicles with rear-differential lock:  Connect and lock electric plug connection -2-  on servo motor for rear-differential lock -1-  .

3. Only for vehicles with rear axle steering:  Install support -1-  .

   Mounting for support

   1. 3.1 Tighten fastening screws -2-  > Initial tightening 70 Nm (51.6 ftlb.)  > Final tightening torque angle + 90° 
4. Install protective plate for left drive shaft -1-  .

   1. 4.1 Tighten fastening screws -2-  > Tightening torque 8 Nm (5.9 ftlb.)
