Installing Double Clutch Transmission

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Check that the intermediate plate on the joint flange is engaged and pushed onto the dowel sleeves -1- . Replace missing dowel sleeves -1- if necessary.

Dowel sleeves
Move double clutch transmission on > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack into installation position and fit it on the engine.
Check that the locking element of the starter -1- is inserted correctly and move it into installation position if necessary -Arrows- .

Locking element of starter
Secure the starter.
- WM, 276019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING STARTER (R4)
Secure double clutch transmission.
1. 5.1 Screw in and tighten screw -1- on double clutch transmission.
  1. Initial tightening 15 Nm (11 ftlb.)
  2. Final tightening + 105°
2. 5.2 Screw in and tighten screws -3- on double clutch transmission.
  1. Initial tightening 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)
  2. Final tightening + 105°

Double clutch transmission to R4 engine
Secure locking cable on double clutch transmission.
- WM, 371319 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING LOCKING CABLE
Secure transmission support -1- .

Transmission support
1. 7.1 Position transmission support -1- according to the markings made during removal.
2. 7.2 Screw in and tighten screws on transmission support -2- .
- Tightening torque 70 Nm (52 ftlb.)
Open the tension strap and remove > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack .
Screw in and tighten top screws on double clutch transmission.
1. 9.1 Screw in and tighten screws -5- on double clutch transmission.
  - Initial tightening 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)
  - Final tightening + 105°
2. 9.2 Screw in and tighten screws -6- on double clutch transmission.
  - Initial tightening 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)
  - Final tightening + 105°
3. 9.3 Screw in and tighten screw -7- on double clutch transmission.
  - Initial tightening 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)
  - Final tightening + 105°

Double clutch transmission to R4 engine
Secure the drive plate.
1. 10.1 Screw in new drive plate screws -1- as far as they will go by hand.
2. 10.2 Tighten drive plate screws -1- .
  - Tightening torque 60 Nm (44.3 ftlb.)
3. 10.3 Insert cover on service opening -2- .

Secure line for ATF cooling -1- to the double clutch transmission.

1. 11.1 Push on line for ATF cooling -1- .
2. 11.2 Screw in and tighten screw on line for ATF cooling -2- .
  - Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
Secure lines for ATF cooling -1- to the oil guide housing.

1. 12.1 Position lines for ATF cooling -1- .
2. 12.2 Screw in and tighten screw -2- .
  - Tightening torque 8 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
Secure electric wire harness for double clutch transmission -1- .

1. 13.1 Connect and lock electric plug connections -2- .
2. 13.2 Clip in clips -3- .
Install exhaust pipe -1- .

Exhaust pipe
1. 14.1 Fit exhaust pipe -1- and screw in and tighten screws for holder -4- .
  - Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
2. 14.2 Position pipe clamp -3- and screw in and tighten screws for pipe clamp -2- .
  - Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)
Install heat shield on right drive shaft -1- .

1. 15.1 Fit heat shield on right drive shaft -1- .
2. 15.2 Screw in and tighten screws for heat shield on right drive shaft -2- .
  - Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
