Changing ATF

NOTIFICATION 

Dirt and contamination 

• Risk of damage to units or components 
  1. → Protect components from dirt and contamination.
  2. → Clean or replace dirty components.

NOTIFICATION 

Fill level too low 

• Risk of damage to components. 
  1. → Do not start the engine.
  2. → Do not tow the vehicle.

1. Place the oil collection pan under the transmission.

   Information 

   • The engine must not be started if there is no ATF in the transmission. 
   • Risk of damage to the transmission. 
2. Unscrew ATF drain plug -1-  and let the ATF drain.

3. Replacing ATF filter.
   1. 3.1  Unscrew the ATF filter housing cover -1-  .
   2. 3.2  Remove the old ATF filter and replace with a new  ATF filter.
   3. 3.3  Tighten the ATF filter housing cover -1-  with a new  sealing ring.
      • Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)

4. Tighten the ATF drain plug -1-  with a new  sealing ring.
   • Tightening torque 45 Nm (33 ftlb.)

   Information 

   Only use oil approved by Porsche in the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), see Parts Information.

5. Fill manual metering pump 6563/3 (for ATF)  from > VAS 6563 - Transmission fluid filler pump set  with ATF for the double clutch transmission.
6. Unscrew ATF inspection plug -1-  .

   1. 6.1  Replace the ATF inspection plug (-1-  ).

   Information 

   • Change the ATF when the engine/transmission is cold. 

   Information 

   • Only part of the total change quantity can be filled because of the test specifications stipulated for the ATF. 
   • The remaining quantity must then be filled as described under Checking and topping up ATF. 
7. Fill in ATF.
   1. 7.1  Fill in ATF using manual metering pump 6563/3  from the > VAS 6563 - Transmission fluid filler pump set  until ATF emerges from the inspection opening.
   2. 7.2  Start the engine and then stop it again after 20 seconds.
   3. 7.3  Fill in ATF again using the manual metering pump until ATF emerges from the control opening.
   4. 7.4  Screw in new ATF inspection plug -1-  but do not tighten.

8. To check that the fill level is correct, perform the procedure for checking ATF.
