Measuring Rear Brake Disc - Lateral Runout

  1. Fit > 9510/1 - adapter plate-1-  .

    Adapter plate on wheel hub

    1. 1.1 > 9510/1 - Adapter plate-1-  must be fitted on the hub of the brake disc -2-  .
    2. 1.2 Screw in and tighten wheel bolts -3-  .

      > Tightening - torque 160 Nm (118 ftlb.) 

    Information 

    The front face of the wheel hub must not be corroded.

    The front face of the wheel hub must be cleaned using a fine emery cloth if necessary.

  2. Measure lateral runout of brake disc -3-  .

    Dial gauge on brake disc

    1. 2.1 > VAS 6079/1 - Dial gauge holder for brake discs-1-  must be secured at a suitable position on the wheel suspension.
    2. 2.2 Fit > VAS 6079 - Dial gauge-2-  and adjust it so that the > VAS 6079 - dial gauge-2-  is positioned 5 mm (grey castiron brake disc) or 10 mm (PCCB brake disc) away from the outer edge of the brake disc -3-  and is slightly pretensioned.
    3. 2.3 Set > VAS 6079 - dial gauge-2-  to zero, slowly turn the brake disc -3-  at the > 9510/1 - adapter plate-4-  by one full turn and check the deflection of the > VAS 6079 - dial gauge-2-  .
  3. If the lateral runout of the brake disc is not within the tolerance range:

    Measure lateral runout of the wheel hub.

    Maximum lateral runout of brake disc: 0.03 mm
