Checking Lateral Runout (Brake Disc/Wheel Hub)

Brake disc lateral runout
- Remove wheel.

- > 9510/2 - Adapter plate
must be secured > Adapter plate on wheel hub

> Tightening - torque 160 Nm (118 ftlb.)

at a suitable position on the wheel bearing housing. > Dial gauge on brake disc (example)

- Fit dial gauge with slight pretension and measure the lateral runout at the greatest external diameter of the brake disc.
Information
The front face of the wheel hub must not be corroded and must be cleaned if necessary using a polishing cloth.
Wheel hub lateral runout:
- Measure the wheel hub lateral runout at the front face of the wheel hub. Take measurements in each case at the external and internal diameter of the wheel bolt area.
- Remove brake disc front.

- Fit the adapter for the >
VAS 6079/1 - dial gauge holder for brake discs
at a suitable position on the wheel bearing housing.
Fit the dial gauge with slight preload and measure the lateral runout on the wheel hub. > Dial gauge on wheel hub (example)

- Then check the thickness tolerance.
