Installing Rear Disc Brake Pads

WARNING: Installation of brake pads with the wrong brake pad quality

Longer braking distance
More wear on brake pads
→ Only use the type-specific brake pads listed in the Porsche Spare Parts Information.

→ Replace the brake pads when the brake pad wear warning light comes on, but no later than when there is a residual pad thickness of 2 mm on each axle.

→ Replace the brake discs on each axle as soon as the brake disc wear limit is reached.

Reduced braking effect
Risk of damage to the brake calliper
→ Fit new pad retaining springs

Check rear brake discs for wear and replace them if necessary.

Check that all parts are in perfect condition (visual inspection) and replace them if necessary.
Information

When replacing the brake pads, always pay attention to the following:
- The backs of the pad backing plates must not be greased.
- Disc brakes must be clean and free of grease.
- The core of the warning contact line must not be exposed! Worn insulation is not important.
- A new repair kit must be used (only replace brake pads on both sides of axle).
Information

The brake piston must not tilt when pressed back.
Install new rear disc brake pads.

Seating of disc brake pads
1. 3.1 Pull off any protective film on the back of the pad backing plates and remove adhesive residue.
2. 3.2 Fit new pad retaining brackets -Arrows- .
3. 3.3 Press brake pistons back to their end position using > T10145 - piston resetting appliance .
4. 3.4 Insert new rear disc brake pads into the brake calliper. After inserting the rear disc brake pads, check that they are seated correctly in the pad retaining brackets -Arrows- .
Secure brake calliper -1- on calliper carrier.

Mounting for brake calliper
1. 4.1 Replace screws securing brake calliper to calliper carrier -2- .
2. 4.2 Position brake calliper -1- .
3. 4.3 Fit new screws securing brake calliper to calliper carrier -2- and tighten them.
  > Tightening - torque 35 Nm (26 ftlb.)
4. 4.4 Position disc brake pads by pressing the brake pedal several times.
Carefully position contact for brake pad wear indicator -1- in the brake calliper and secure electric line to holder -2- .

Information

Clip brake hose and electric line correctly into the combination holder on the wheel bearing housing and fix them in place.
Clip brake hose -1- and electric line -2- dry (without using sliding compound) into the combination holder -3- on the wheel bearing housing.
