Replacing Control Unit For Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM)

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester  .

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type if required.
  3. Select the Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM)  control unit in the overview  . Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  4. Coding/programming  must be selected.
  5. Automatic coding  must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
  6. The Tester displays the message: Coding completed successfully. Press F12 to continue.
  7. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
  8. Teach wheel IDs  must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
  9. Teach wheel IDs without driving  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
  10. Wheel IDs unknown  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
  11. Follow the instructions on the Tester. Press F12 to continue. Reduce the respective tyre pressure for approx. 5 seconds as instructed by the Tester and follow the instructions.
  12. Adapt tyre pressure according to specifications.
  13. Follow the instructions on the Tester. Press F12 to continue.
  14. Read out the fault memory  , correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
  15. Exit the diagnostic application, switch off ignition, disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
