Loosening Front Brake Calliper

NOTIFICATION 

Removal of brake calliper 

Information 

To gain better access for removal of the brake calliper, turn the steering fully either to the right or left.

Information 

Never use power tools (impact bolter) for loosening and securing the brake calliper on the wheel bearing housing.

Information 

A different brake variant can be installed, depending on the country of delivery.

When working on the brake system, select and observe the relevant description.

  1. Loosen brake line holder -1-  from wheel bearing housing.

    Brake line holder

    1. 1.1 Unscrew screw on brake line holder -2-  .
    2. 1.2 Loosen brake line holder -1-  and move it aside.
  2. Carefully pull out contact for brake pad wear indicator -1-  and loosen electric line -2-  from the bleeder valve cover at the brake calliper -3-  .

    Information 

    If necessary, remove a little brake fluid from the reservoir by suction in order to prevent an overflow when the disc brake pads are pushed back.

  3. Loosen front brake calliper -1-  .

    1. 3.1 If there is a burr on the outside of the brake disc, reset the brake pads slightly using a suitable tool.
    2. 3.2 Unscrew screws on brake calliper -2-  .

    Information 

    The most suitable position for suspending the brake calliper in the wheel housing must be selected in accordance with the work to be carried out.

    If you do not intend to work in this area, the chassis spring, for example, may be suitable for suspending the brake calliper.

  4. Suspend front brake calliper -1-  in the wheel housing.

    1. 4.1 Have suitable fastening elements -2-  (e.g. tie-wraps) ready for suspending the brake calliper.
    2. 4.2 Attach fastening element -2-  at a suitable position in the wheel housing.
    3. 4.3 Remove brake calliper -1-  from the wheel bearing housing and suspend it at the relevant prepared position. Make sure not to damage the brake lines on the brake calliper.
