Removing Pistons

The piston must not be marked using mechanical tools.
Information
Used connecting-rod bearing shells must not be interchanged. Always check installation position!
- Mark the installation position and allocation of the pistons to the cylinder for re-installation using a coloured marker.
- Mark the installation position of the connecting rod bearing caps for re-installation using a coloured marker.
- Remove piston -1-
Piston and connecting rod on crankshaft
- 3.1 Turn the crankshaft as far as required until the relevant piston -1- is accessible.
- 3.2 Unscrew connecting-rod bearing cap screws -2- and remove connecting-rod bearing cap.
- 3.3 Lift piston -1- and connecting rod up out of the cylinder bore and remove them.
- 3.4 Fit connecting-rod bearing cap back on the related connecting rod to prevent it from getting mixed up.
