Removing Locking Cable

Information
Do not apply lateral forces to the selector knob pull rod as it can break off.
- Remove switch console holder -1-

- 1.1 Release and remove switch console holder -1- in -direction of arrow- .
- Remove insulating mat 1

- 2.1 Release and disconnect cable plug 2 .
- 2.2

Information
- Loosen clamping screw for locking cable by only about 1 turn.
- The clamping screw is only accessible in selector-lever position "P".
- When the clamping screw is loosened, the selector lever must remain in position "P".

- 4.1
Support transmission at transmission support 3

VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack

- 4.1.1 Place a suitable piece of wood under the > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack and position it under the transmission support so that the screws -1 and 3- are accessible
- 4.2 Unscrew screws -1 and 3- .
- 4.3 Lower the transmission approx. 25 mm using > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack .

- Remove heat shield -1-

- 5.1 Loosen clamping washers 2 .
- 5.2 Remove heat shield
- Disconnect locking cable 1

Locking cable on selector support
- 6.1 Loosen the safety clip 2 and pull locking cable 1 out of the selector support 3 .
- Remove locking cable -1-

Locking cable
- 7.1 Loosen ball socket -2- .
- 7.2 Unscrew screws on locking cable holder -3- .
- 7.3 Remove locking cable -1- . together with holder.
