1. Remove all spark plugs.
   • WM, 287020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SPARK PLUGS (V6 TURBO)

   Information 

   The dead centre finder or "cylinder pipe" consists of a glass tube (inspection glass) with a piston hose and a rubber cone -2-  .

   Information 

   The piston in the inspection glass is pressed upwards in the compression cycle so that it moves back down again immediately upon reaching TDC position > Piston in TDC position.  The piston in the inspection glass stays down in overlapping TDC position.

2. Position cylinder 1 at ignition TDC and remove tool (dead centre finder).

   Tool setup - dead centre finder

   1. 2.1  Press the rubber cone onto the spark plug hole of the first cylinder. The inspection glass must either be held by another person > Dead centre finder - "cylinder pipe"  or secured vertically at a clearly visible position using a magnet.
   2. 2.2  Turn the engine in direction of rotation at the crankshaft using > T40263 - wrench, 21 mm  and > T40314 - adapter  until the cylinder to be tested is at ignition TDC.
