Installing Drive Belt

WARNING:
Rotating components
- Danger of limbs being trapped or severed
- → Disconnect power supply to the drive motor of components or to the battery.
NOTIFICATION
Drive belt removed incorrectly
- Risk of damage to drive belt
- → Only remove the drive belt when it is cold.
- → Replace damaged drive belt.
NOTIFICATION
Drive belt breaks and becomes jammed
- Risk of damage to components (trim panels, electric cables, etc.)
- Leaks at the crankshaft vibration damper sealing ring
- Vibration damper can overheat and lose its strength
- → Following belt breakage, check adjacent components and the interior of the engine compartment for damage. Repair or replace damaged parts.
- → Find out why the belt broke. Check deflection rollers or crankshaft vibration dampers for prior damage.
- → If the drive belt is jammed, replace the vibration damper.
Information
Before removing the drive belt, the rolling direction must be marked for re-installation with chalk or a felt-tipped pen.
- Danger of irreparable damage if a previously used drive belt is set to move in the opposite rolling direction.
- Install drive belt -1-

Drive belt
- 1.1 Fit the drive belt -1- on the pulleys and align it along the grooves of the pulleys. Check the rolling direction of the belt while doing this.
- 1.2 Turn belt tensioner -2- in -direction of arrow- and pull out T10060A - locking pin .
- 1.3 Slowly swivel out the belt tensioner -2- to its initial position.
- 1.4 Check that the drive belt -1- is seated and tensioned correctly.
- Start the engine and check drive belt routing.
