Installing Crankshaft

- Install new
bearing shells correctly according to assignment.
- 1.1 Assign new bearing shells as marked.
- 1.2 Coat new bearing shells with engine oil.
- 1.3 Insert new bearing shells on the relevant crankshaft bearings. Check that the bearing shells are fitted correctly.
- 1.4 Insert upper thrust washers in the 3rd crankshaft bearing.

You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.
- Carefully insert the crankshaft -1-
into the cylinder block -2-
with the help of an assistant.

- Install new
bearing shells correctly according to assignment.
- 3.1 Assign new bearing shells as marked.
- 3.2 Coat new bearing shells with engine oil.
- 3.3 Insert new bearing shells on the relevant bearing cover. Check that the bearing shells are fitted correctly.
- 3.4 Insert thrust washers in the 3rd crankshaft bearing.
- 3.5 Insert bearing covers into the cylinder block. Check that they are fitted correctly.
- Tighten crankshaft bearing covers.

- 4.1 Replace screws on crankshaft bearing covers.
- 4.2 Fit screws on crankshaft bearing covers -1 to 10- and -A- by hand.
- 4.3
Tighten screws on crankshaft bearing covers -1 to 10-
.
Initial tightening 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)
- 4.4
Tighten screws on crankshaft bearing covers -1 to 10-
.
Final tightening + 90°
- 4.5
Tighten screws on crankshaft bearing covers -A-
.
Initial tightening 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
- 4.6
Tighten screws on crankshaft bearing covers -A-
.
Final tightening + 90°
