Checking Axial Play Of Crankshaft

  1. Fit dial gauge.

    Measuring axial play of crankshaft

    1. 1.1 VW387 - Universal dial gauge bracket-2-  must be fitted on the cylinder block.
    2. 1.2 VAS 6079 - Dial gauge  must be inserted in the VW387 - universal dial gauge bracket  .
    3. 1.3 VAS 6079 - Dial gauge  must then be fitted on the crankshaft web -1-  .
    4. 1.4  Press crankshaft web -1-  by hand against the VAS 6079 - dial gauge (-Arrow-)  and set VAS 6079 - dial gauge  to zero.
    5. 1.5  Press crankshaft web -1-  by hand away from the VAS 6079 - dial gauge (-Arrow-)  and read off the value.
Crankshaft bearing dimensions:
Play New Wear limit
Axial play 0.070... 0.231 mm 0.30 mm
