Replacing Control Unit For Electric Steering Column Lock (ELV)
NOTE:
Voltage drop
- Irreparable damage to control unit
- Damage to control unit
- Error entries in the control unit
- Control unit programming/coding aborted
- Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming/coding
- Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
- Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
- Connect battery charger with at least > current 90 A to vehicle battery.
Information
- All remote controls (keys) are required for teaching a DME, rear-end electronics (rear BCM), electronic steering lock (ELV) control unit for example, or for teaching remote controls (keys).
- Remote controls (keys) that are not taught during this teaching procedure will no longer be recognised by the vehicle.
Information
- The PIWIS Tester instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.
- The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in the PIWIS Tester.
- Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
- Select the vehicle type if required.
- Select the Steering column lock control unit in the overview. Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
- Coding/programming must be selected.
- Automatic coding must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
- The message "Coding was completed successfully" appears. Press F12 to continue.
- Go back to the overview. Press F11 to continue.
- In the overview, press F7 to switch to the Additional menu.
- Engine immobiliser start-up must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
- Enter the PPN user name and password. Press F12 to continue.
- The Tester displays the message: Login successful. Press F12 to continue.
- Check the chassis number. Enter the order number. Press F12 to continue.
- Follow the instructions on the Tester. Press F12 to continue.
- The Tester displays the message: Engine immobiliser start-up successful. Press F12 to continue.
- Read out the fault memory and delete any fault entries.
- Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
- Lock, open and start the vehicle using all remote controls.
