Installing Heating/Fresh Air Unit (Completely)

WARNING: Refrigerant 
  • Danger of freezing 
    1. → Avoid contact with refrigerant.
    2. → Wear personal protective gear.
    3. → Observe the safety regulations for working on air-conditioned vehicles and handling refrigerant.
    4. → Observe the safety regulations for extraction and filling systems.
    5. → Observe the instructions for repairing air-conditioning systems and storing spare parts.

Information 

Before re-installing the component, check the O-rings on the refrigerant lines for damage and replace them if necessary.

The O-rings on the refrigerant lines must be coated with refrigerant oil.

All refrigerant lines and connections must be closed off using suitable stoppers during removal.

Stoppers for lines and connections must not be opened until shortly before installation.

  1. Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:
    1. 1.1  Replace O-rings.
    2. 1.2  Fit screw securing heating/fresh-air unit to centre tunnel -1-  and tighten.
      • Tightening torque 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.)

    3. 1.3  Fit screw securing air intake tract holder to heating/fresh-air unit -2-  and tighten.
      • Tightening torque 3.6 Nm (2.6 ftlb.)

    4. 1.4  Fit screws securing compressor/evaporator line to expansion valve -2-  and tighten.
      • Tightening torque 12 Nm (9 ftlb.)
