Removing Double Clutch Transmission

WARNING:
Danger of objects or loads falling down
- Risk of squashing or crushing
- → Secure components to prevent them from falling down.
WARNING:
Working with ATF
- Possible danger of injury or damage (e.g. swollen hoses, skin irritation, danger of slipping, etc.)
- → Before lines are opened, place a cloth underneath them!
- → Components that come into contact with ATF must be cleaned IMMEDIATELY with water!
- → Take appropriate protective measures (protective clothing, safety goggles, oil binding material)
- → Collect emerging ATF!
CAUTION:
Heavy components
- Risk of squashing
- → Wear personal protective gear.
- → Get someone to help if necessary.

- Risk of burns
- → Let hot components cool down.
- → Wear personal protective gear.
NOTIFICATION
Engine/transmission is supported on the oil pan.
- Leaks at the oil pan
- → Use prescribed tools and aids.
- Remove heat shield on right drive shaft -1-
.
Heat shield on right drive shaft
- 1.1 Unscrew screws for heat shield on right drive shaft -2- .
- 1.2 Remove heat shield on right drive shaft -1- .
- Remove exhaust pipe -1-
.
Exhaust pipe
- 2.1 Loosen screws on pipe clamp -2- and move the pipe clamp -3- so that the exhaust pipe -1- is disconnected.
- 2.2 Unscrew screws on holder -4- and remove exhaust pipe -1- .
- 2.3 Secure the rest of the exhaust system using suitable aids so that the weight of the remaining piece of pipe does not strain the retaining rubbers of the rear silencer.

Electric wire harness for double clutch transmission
- 3.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connections -2- .
- 3.2 Unclip clips -3- and move electric wire harness for double clutch transmission -1- aside.
- Disconnect lines for ATF cooling -1-
from oil guide housing.

- 4.1 Unscrew screw -2- .
- 4.2 Suspend lines for ATF cooling -1- at the side.
- Disconnect line for ATF cooling -1-
rom double clutch transmission.

- 5.1 Place suitable aids for catching escaping ATF underneath.
- 5.2 Unscrew screw on line for ATF cooling -2- .
- 5.3 Disconnect line for ATF cooling -1- and close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
- Support the engine on the body.

Information
You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.
- Unscrew drive plate screws -1-
.
Drive plate screws
- 7.1 Remove service cover -2- on double clutch transmission.
- 7.2 Turn the engine at the crankshaft as far as required in direction of rotation of the engine until one drive plate screw -1- is accessible.
- 7.3 Unscrew drive plate screw -1- . Get a second mechanic to counter at the crankshaft at the same time.
- 7.4 Repeat this procedure for the other two drive plate screws -1- .
- Loosen double clutch transmission.
- 8.1 Unscrew top screws securing double clutch transmission to engine -1 to 4- .
- 8.2
Loosen the starter.
- 8.2.1
Loosen starter cable from holder. To do this, cut the tie-wrap using a suitable tool.
Replace tie-wrap.
- 8.2.2 Remove spacer sleeve -5- .
- 8.2.3 Unscrew screw -6- .
- 8.2.4 Pull the starter away from the double clutch transmission slightly by hand and leave it at this position.

Loosen starter cable from holder. To do this, cut the tie-wrap using a suitable tool.

must be prepared for use. > Gearbox support
- 9.1 Remove mounting block -1- .
- 9.2 Fit mounting block -2- upright.
Gearbox support
- >
VAS 6931 - Engine and gearbox jack
must now be fitted.
- 10.1 > T40173A - Gearbox support must now be fitted on > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack .
- 10.2 > VAS 6931 - Engine and gearbox jack must be positioned under the transmission in such a way that the front mounting block engages in the service opening for the drive plate.
- 10.3 Secure double clutch transmission with a tension strap.
- Loosen transmission support -1-

Transmission support
- 11.1 Mark the position of the transmission support -1- for re-installation.
- 11.2 Unscrew screws on transmission support -2- .
- Loosen locking cable on double clutch transmission.
