Checking Lateral Runout (Brake Disc/Wheel Hub) And Thickness Tolerance

Information 

• The required technical values must be taken from the 

  > 4600TW - PSCB TECHNICAL VALUES AND WEAR LIMITS 

  document. 

Brake disc lateral runout 

1. Remove wheel.

   > 440519 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL - SECTION ON "REMOVING"

2. > 9510/2 - Adapter plate  must be secured > Adapter plate on wheel hub  .

3. > VAS 6079/1 - Dial gauge holder for brake discs  must be fitted at a suitable position on the wheel bearing housing. > Dial gauge on brake disc

4. Fit > VAS 6079 - dial gauge  with slight pretension and measure the lateral runout at the greatest external diameter of the brake disc.

   Information 

   The front face of the wheel hub must not be corroded and must be cleaned if necessary using a polishing cloth.

   Wheel hub lateral runout: 

5. Measure the wheel hub lateral runout at the front face of the wheel hub. Take measurements in each case at the external and internal diameter of the wheel bolt area.

1. Remove rear brake disc.

   > 465319 - REMOVE AND INSTALL THE BRAKE DISC REAR - SECTION ON "REMOVING" 

2. > VAS 6079/1 - Dial gauge holder for brake discs  must be fitted at a suitable position on the wheel bearing housing. Fit > VAS 6079 - dial gauge  with slight pretension and measure the lateral runout on the wheel hub.>Dial gauge on wheel hub
