Removing Front Disc Brake Pads

Information 

A different brake variant can be installed, depending on the country of delivery.

When working on the brake system, select and observe the relevant description.

  1. Remove line for brake pad wear indicator -1-  .

    1. 1.1 Release and disconnect cable plug -2-  .
    2. 1.2 Unclip cable plug -2-  at the holder.
    3. 1.3 Loosen line for brake pad wear indicator from holder -3-  .
    4. 1.4 Disconnect contact for brake pad wear indicator -4-  on the brake pad.

    NOTIFICATION 

    Removal of brake calliper 

    • Paint defects on brake calliper 

      → Proceed with care when setting back the brake pads.

      → Protect brake calliper from paint defects using a suitable cloth.

  2. Press back brake pistons with brake pads installed using > T10145 - piston resetting appliance  (fit piston resetting appliance on the backing plates of the installed brake pads).

    Information 

    • Make sure not to scratch or damage the paint on the brake calliper. 
    • The pad retaining spring is tensioned. 
  3. Remove front disc brake pads -1-  .

    1. 3.1 Carefully remove pad retaining pins -2-  using a suitable punch -direction of arrow-  .
    2. 3.2 Remove front disc brake pads -1-  and pad retaining spring -3-  .

Removal of brake calliper

Information 

A different brake variant can be installed, depending on the country of delivery.

When working on the brake system, select and observe the relevant description.

  1. Carefully set the disc brake pads back slightly and evenly using a suitable tool.
  2. Loosen warning contact from the brake calliper.
  3. Position > T10145 - piston resetting appliance  on the brake calliper between the disc brake pads and press the disc brake pads back evenly.
  4. Carefully slide a commercially available screwdriver between the disc brake pad/brake calliper and lever the disc brake pad out by turning the screwdriver slightly -Arrows-  . Make sure not to damage the dust boots for the brake pistons.

  5. Remove pad retaining springs.
