Removing Cylinder Head Cover

NOTIFICATION 

Dirt and contamination 

Information 

  1. Release and pull off cable plug -1 and 2-  .

  2. Release and disconnect cable plug on hall sensor for outlet camshaft -2-  .

  3. Release and pull off cable plug -1, 2 and 3-  and unclip holder -4-  .

  5. Release and disconnect cable plug on tank vent valve -1-  .

  6. Unclip cable duct -1-  from the holder -Arrows-  and place engine wire harness put it aside.

  7. Detach tank vent valve -1-  with holder from cylinder head cover.

    1. 7.1  Unclip retaining clip -2-  .
    2. 7.2  Unscrew screws -3-  and set tank vent valve and holder aside.
  8. Transfer the markings onto the T40271 - camshaft clamp-1 and 2-  .

    Transferring the markings onto the camshaft clamp

    1. 8.1  Mark sprockets for T40271 - camshaft clamp-1 and 2-Arrow-  .
  9. Turn crankshaft 90° from "TDC" position.
    1. 9.1  Fit sprocket without timing chains on crankshaft.
    2. 9.2  Attach T10368 - pressure piece-1-  using crankshaft pulley screw -Arrow-  .
    3. 9.3  Turn the crankshaft on the crankshaft pulley screw -Arrow- 90° - from TDC position against the running direction of the engine.

  10. Move intake camshaft -2-  into rest position.

    Secure the intake camshaft

    1. 10.1 T40266 - Screw adapter-3-  into -direction of arrow A-  .
    2. 10.2 T40271 - Camshaft clamp  must be pushed in -direction of arrow B-  . Then, move the camshaft to normal position.
  11. Move outlet camshaft -2-  into rest position.

    Secure the outlet camshaft

    1. 11.1 T40266 - Screw adapter-3-  into -direction of arrow A-  .
    2. 11.2 T40271 - Camshaft clamp  must be pushed in -direction of arrow B-  . Then, move the camshaft to normal position.
  12. Remove cylinder head cover -7-  .

    1. 12.1  Unscrew screws on cylinder head cover in the sequence -1 to 6-  .
      1. 12.1.1  Replace screws.
    2. 12.2  Remove cylinder head cover -7-  .
    3. 12.3  Remove camshafts from the cylinder head.

    Information 

    The sealing faces must be dry and free of oil and grease.

  13. Clean sealing faces on the cylinder head cover and cylinder head using a special plastic brush for drills to remove residual sealant.
