Removing Valves: Notes

Information
- Secure the cylinder head on a level surface, which allows easy access to the valves from underneath.
- No valves should be hidden by the surface under the cylinder head.
- The cylinder head fastening must not tip over when tools are used.
Information
The valve lock prevents the valves from opening while being pressed down.
- Before removing the valves, screw in valve lock -1-
or alternatively, place a rubber plate -2-
underneath.

The hook piece is pre-fitted in the holder.
- Screw in holder -1-

- 2.1 Screw -1- a holder with the appropriate thread into its matching thread on the cylinder head.

- 3.1 Insert a suitable plastic guide -1- instead of the tappet.

- Insert assembly cartridge -1-
for the valve keys into the plastic guide.

Information
Make sure that the tool and equipment can be used without tilting.
- Engage the lever (assembly bar) -1-
in the hook and place it on the assembly cartridge.

Information
The knurled screw on the assembly cartridge is pushed forward.
- Press assembly cartridge -1-
with lever (assembly bar) down against the valve spring force and keep it pressed.

Information
The mechanic must practise for use of the assembly cartridge to be effective. Some repetitions must be made to ensure that the valve keys are correctly held in place.

The knurled screw moves back again.
- Turn the knurled screw -1-
back and forth until the valve keys snap into place in the assembly cartridge -2-
and are held there.

- Remove assembly cartridge and check that both valve keys -1-
are at the correct position.

- Pull knurled screw -1-
on the assembly cartridge and tap out the valve keys -2-

- Remove valve-spring plates and valve springs.
- 10.1 Mark the installation position of the valve springs and valve-spring plates for re-installation.
- Remove valve locks and push valves out to the side of the combustion chamber.
