Installing Balance Shaft On Outlet Side

- Insert guide tube -1-
for balance shaft.
Guide tube for balance shaft
- 1.1 Insert guide tube -1- with cut-outs -Arrow- facing the front of the engine.
- Install balance shaft -2-
.
Balance shafts
- 2.1 Insert balance shaft into cylinder block -2- .
- 2.2 Replace screw for balance shaft on intake side -3- .
- 2.3
Fit and tighten screw for balance shaft on intake side -3-
.
> Initial - tightening torque 4 Nm (3 ftlb.)
> Final tightening torque + 45°
- Apply TDC marking on cylinder block.
TDC marking
- 3.1 Check that markings -Arrows- for TDC position of the crankshaft are aligned.
- 3.2 Apply marking on cylinder block -1- using a permanent marker.
- Copy marking -1-
to the tooth of sprocket -2-
using a permanent marker.
Marking on sprocket
- Fit balance shaft timing chain -1-
so that coloured chain links -Arrows-
are aligned with the markings on sprockets -2 and 3-
.

- Install sprocket -1-
.
Sprocket (three-stage)
- 6.1 Insert sprocket -1- into balance shaft timing chain -2- so that markings -A and B- are aligned.
- 6.2 Fit sprocket -1- on crankshaft -Arrow- .
- Secure T10368 - thrust piece-1-
using crankshaft pulley screw -Arrow-
.

- Install guide and tension rail -1 and 2-
for balance shaft timing chain.

Install guide rail
- 8.1.1 Position guide rail -1- .
- 8.1.2
Fit and tighten guide pins -5-
.
> Tightening - torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
- 8.2
Install tension rail -2-
.
- 8.2.1 Position tension rail -2- .
- 8.2.2
Fit and tighten guide pins -4-
.
> Tightening - torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
- 8.3
Fit and tighten chain tensioner -3-
using screw-locking agent.
> Tightening - torque 85 Nm (63 ftlb.)
