Loosening Rear Brake Calliper

NOTIFICATION
Removal of brake calliper
- Paint defects on brake calliper
- → Proceed with care when setting back the brake pads.
- → Protect the paintwork on the brake calliper from damage using a suitable cloth.
Information
If necessary, remove a little brake fluid from the reservoir by suction in order to prevent an overflow when the disc brake pads are pushed back.
- Move electric parking brake (EPB) into assembly position using the PIWIS Tester.
- 1.1 Select > Parking - brake<< in the control unit overview.
- 1.2 In the Maintenance/repairs menu, select the function assembly position.
- 1.3 Follow the instructions on the Tester.
- Release and disconnect cable plug on rpm sensor -1-

Information
Never use power tools (impact bolter) for loosening and securing the brake calliper on the wheel bearing housing.
- Loosen rear brake calliper -1-
.
Rear brake calliper
- 3.1 Release and disconnect cable plug -2- .
- 3.2 Unscrew and replace brake calliper screws -3- .
- 3.3 Remove rear brake calliper -1- .
- Suspend the brake calliper -1-
in the wheel housing.

- 4.1 Have suitable fastening elements -2- (e.g. tie-wraps) ready for suspending the rear brake calliper -1- .
- 4.2 Attach fastening element -2- at a suitable position in the wheel housing.
- 4.3 Remove rear brake calliper -1-
from the wheel bearing housing and suspend it at the relevant prepared position.
Make sure not to damage the brake lines on the rear brake calliper -1- .
