Assembling Rear Shock Absorber (PASM)

Information
A soapy solution can be used for fitting the rubber stop in the boot.
- Fit rubber stop into spring-strut mount and boot.
- Clamp shock absorber in a vice using aluminium protective jaws.
- Position spring-strut mount with rubber stop and boot on the shock absorber.
- Align spring-strut mount at a 90° angle -X-
with respect to the lower spring-strut mount.

- Screw on and tighten nut using > 3353 - socket-wrench insert-1-
and counter at the hexagon on the piston rod at the same time.
> Tightening torque 35 Nm

- Push on grommet for spring-strut mount and connector housing.

- The release tool is contained in the following tool set: > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set
- The numbering of the slots is shown on the connector housing.
- Install connector housing.
- 7.1 Insert green line in slot 1.
- 7.2 Insert brown line in slot 2.
- 7.3 Lock secondary lock using VAS 1978/17 .
- Release shock absorber from the vice.
