Installing Rear Anti-Roll Bar

WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly

1. → Wear personal protective gear.
2. → Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).

Replace screw -3- and nut -4- .

Connecting link on rear anti-roll bar
1. 1.1 Unscrew nut -4- from screw -3- .
2. 1.2 Remove connecting link for anti-roll bar -2- .
3. 1.3 Replace screw -3- and nut -4- and fit connecting link for anti-roll bar -2- with a new screw -3- on the anti-roll bar -1- .
4. 1.4 Screw on new nut -4- on screw -3- , but do not tighten yet.
Information

Do not damage the paintwork on the anti-roll bar during removal and installation.
Position rear anti-roll bar -1- with connecting links for anti-roll bar.

Install anti-roll bar clamps -1- .

Rear anti-roll bar clamp
1. 3.1 Position anti-roll bar clamps -1- .
2. 3.2 Position holder for control unit for Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM) -3- on the left anti-roll bar clamp -1- .
3. 3.3 Screw in new screws -2- , but do not tighten yet.
Screw in new screw -4- on connecting link for anti-roll bar -1- , but do not tighten yet.

Connecting link for anti-roll bar
Tighten screws -2- on anti-roll bar clamps -1- .
> Initial - tightening 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)

> Final tightening + 180°

Rear anti-roll bar clamp
Before tightening the screws and nuts on connecting link for anti-roll bar: Lift the wheel suspension to zero position using lifting equipment (e.g. > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack ).

Zero position (shown on rear axle as an example)
Tighten screws -4- on connecting links for anti-roll bar -1- .
> Initial - tightening 50 Nm (37 ftlb.)

> Final tightening + 90°

Tighten screws -2- and nuts -3- .
> Initial - tightening 50 Nm (37 ftlb.)

Screw in and tighten screws -2- for the level sensors -1- on the lower trailing arm -3- .
> Tightening torque 9 Nm
