Removing Rear Wheel Bearing

Information
Wheel bearing unit
- The wheel bearing has a magnetised multipole seal, which acts as a pulse sender for the wheel speed sensor.
- The multipole seal -1- must - always face upwards when the wheel bearing is set down (this does not apply when pressing the wheel hub into the wheel bearing).
- The multipole seal must not be damaged and must not come into contact with magnetic objects (for example, magnetised screwdriver, magnet).
- Remove wheel bearing unit -5-

- 1.1 Clamp the wheel bearing housing -6- in a vice with aluminium protective jaws.
- 1.2 Unscrew screws on wheel bearing unit -1 to 4- .
- 1.3 Remove wheel bearing unit -5- from wheel bearing housing -6- .
- Press wheel hub out of the wheel bearing.

- Pressure piece T10230/8 from > T10230 - assembly tool
- Wheel bearing unit
- > VW402 - Thrust plate
- > VW401 - Thrust plate
- 2.1 Fit special tools -1 to 3- and -5 and 6- as shown in > Removing wheel hub from wheel bearing on wheel bearing unit -4- .
- 2.2 Press wheel hub out of the wheel bearing.
- Press inner bearing ring -1- off the wheel hub -2- .
